Fly in with MAF

One of the many requirements to be a pilot with MAF is to be a commercially rated pilot-which I am. However, the flight training process here at MAF is quite strenuous. To the point where at times I have felt like a beginner pilot all over again.

After one particularly difficult lesson (I don't remember which one), I was wondering to myself if I would ever "get it" and if MAF would ever let me fly one of their airplanes by myself. But God has a sense of humor. As I was unjustly berating myself, one of the other Instructor Pilots walked up and said, "Hey, do you want to take this airplane to a fly-in this weekend?" Initially I ignored him because I assumed he was talking to the other Instructor, but he said my name, then repeated the question. "Um, is MAF the coolest organization in the whole wide world? YES!"

So long story short, our family and one of the other pilot/mechanics in training and his family loaded into the airplane and flew to the fly in. The rest of this story would be best shared in pictures. Enjoy!
We couldn't have asked for a better day.

Okay Mommy and Daddy, it's good to fly. Be back later!

The plane I was priviledged to fly in. It cleans up nicely!
It wasn't until we got there that we realized it was not just a fly in, but a classic car show as well...

                                                             .....and antique tractor show.....

                                                           ......And antique tractor pull.......

......I already felt like I was back in the south, but this really made it feel like home!

We finished the day off with a little bit of sight seeing on the flight back
